Yesterday we got on a very fast train – top speed 248km per
hour. We got from Rome to Venice – which is as far as Wellington to Auckland -
in 3 ½ hours.
First impressions arriving in Venice – hot and watery! It is
all canals, no roads. Instead of buses there are long boats called Vaporetto.
Instead of cars there are speed boats and gondolas. We also had the best piece of pizza EVER.
In Venice we boarded our cruise ship and found our
room. Then we went outside and it was
EPIC! There were two deep pools, two shallow pools, four spas and a spray pool.
The weather was amazingly hot, and there was music and dancing outside. Then
the ship started to move and we saw Venice in all its glory.
Today we woke up in the port of Split in Croatia. The sunrise was beautiful. The mountains were cliff-like behind the city
– pretty cool huh? We wandered around a
palace underground (Diocletian’s Palace). It was built 1700 years ago. Most of
the palace that was above ground got removed over the years, but some of the
walls and the underground parts of the palace were preserved.
Travelers tip: If you ever get the chance, go on a cruise, it is an amazing expeience.
It got really hot, so we headed back to the ship and had a
swim and played soccer on a cool court on the top of the ship with a view over
Split. It was awesome!
Adam it Looks like you are having a wonderful time! I loved Venice when I was there. Did you go on a Gondola?
ReplyDeleteSadly no but I am going back at the end of the cruise so hopefully then. And more pizza!
